We are looking for a colleague to work for our News Department as a Shoot and Edit Cameraman in London, UK.

We are looking for experienced shoot-edit camera operators to work in the field with our correspondents and producers, compiling news packages and filing lives worldwide. From front line to news conferences, from refugee camps to presidential palaces, the variety of work is huge. You should be ready to work in all types of environments and travel extensively, working mostly with a tight-knit field team but sometimes as part of a complex, multi-camera shoot on features and investigations. The successful applicants will need to have a keen eye and will ideally have extensive experience of working with an international news organization. They should be familiar with the latest field workflows involving laptop editing, 3G/4G Wi-Fi data transfer, the use of various camera formats, and mobile satellite platforms.

Job Description

  • Work closely with News EP and Team Leader
  • Work as part of a field operations team to gather high-quality material, edit under heavy deadline pressure and file from the field over a variety of platforms including IT, Wi-Fi and traditional satellite links
  • Set up live TV links in all types of environments and ensure safe and seamless transmission into the TRT systems
  • Work with the field team to ensure as safe a working environment as possible in possible hostile areas
  • Be able to work with the reporter to plan and develop visual storytelling
  • Be ready to work on short notice for breaking news and deployments
  • Take extensive care of provided camera equipment


  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Shoot Edit field,
  • Demonstrate craft and operational attitude and possess eye for a good picture and technical field skills
  • Effective communicator – speaks English well and is able to interpret the wishes of field colleagues and the newsdesk and able to tactfully suggest alternatives
  • Excellent team worker - participates fully in the team’s decision-making; flexible and proactive in taking on the roles required
  • Resourceful and flexible – the role involves extensive international travel, often being last minute
  • Demonstrate awareness of pressures on each individual in the team
  • The ability to be as cost-effective as possible
  • Strives to provide the highest quality of work, both artistically and technically, while understanding and working within limits imposed by available finance, resources and deadlines
  • Demonstrable interest in TRT programme output
  • Be able to work on Apple MAC Operating systems and edit on Final Cut pro x/Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Be able to edit on the go and in the field when necessary
  • Be able to have an extensive skills using Pro camera filming equipment such as a SONY ENG camera, and be able to use the Sony camera Series
  • Have a good understanding of using interchangeable lenses
  • Have a good understanding of recording audio and setting up lights
  • Be able to use Sony ENG cameras along with other Sony series
  • It would be an advantage to have a UK driving license
  • Driving license and knowledge of operating drone is a plus
